Blue Beauty Tomato

Blue Beauty is the another beautiful dark skinned tomato growing for the second year at B&B Farmstead. Last year blue beauty didn't really excel in the high tunnels, but either did we the farmers. We are excited to give this a second go with more motivation and passion to succeed with the blue beauty.

The earliest history I can find related to the breeding of truly purple tomatoes dates back to the 1960. Two breeders crossed cultivated tomatoes with wild varieties originating from Chile and the Galapagos Islands. Those wild tomatoes possessed the genes capable of producing the anthocyanin pigmentation in the skin.
